Free Spanish Level Test
Twelve short reading passages, five minutes, no email. Your CEFR level at the end.
Each question shows a short Spanish passage followed by one comprehension question in English. The passages get harder as you go: the first ones are true beginner (A1) and the last ones are near-native (C2).
- • 12 questions, about 5 minutes
- • No signup, no email, nothing stored
- • Don't guess: pick "I'm not sure" when you don't know. You'll get a more accurate level.
Your reading level
A twelve-question test is an estimate, not a certificate. The real check: read a story at this level and see how it feels.
Léelo's library has 296 Spanish readers matched to every CEFR level, with tap-to-translate on every word. Every A1 story is free.
How this Spanish level test works
The test uses reading comprehension, not grammar drills. Each passage is written to a specific CEFR level, from A1 (present tense, everyday vocabulary) through C2 (literary prose). Your result reflects the hardest passages you can actually understand, which is the same way the free stories on this site and the library in Léelo are graded.
A quick score is a starting point, not a diagnosis. If your result feels wrong after reading a story or two, adjust by one level and keep reading. Wondering what the levels mean for your timeline? See how long it takes to learn Spanish.
